Train workers have been on a strike for nearly a week causing 13 trains to stop operating. Train drivers are refusing to drive the trains because they feel that the trains do not meet safety standards.

So far, seven trains have been checked and are operating once again because they have passed the standards.

Mr. Yutthana Thapcharoen, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand said that he will rush to get the rest of trains fixed and will get everything back to normal as soon as possible.

The train union workers will continue their strike and have threatened to close down the Hua Lumpong station in Bangkok, the biggest and busiest train station in Thailand if authorities do not act now.

Mr. Sophon Saram, Transport Minister informed the public not to worry and promised the public they will have the rail services back to its normal state “within two days”.
