Thailand to Participate in UN's Marathon for Peace on October 31
Prime Minister Abisit Vejjajiva as he announced that Thailand will be participating in the UN’s Marathon for Peace.
Thailand’s Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva recently announced that Thailand will participate in the UN’s Marathon for Peace, to be held on October 31 starting at 6:00 am. The marathon will start at the United Nations Asia Pacific Building on Ratchadamnern Klang Road in Bangkok. The event is limited to ten thousand people.
The Ministry of Public Health, in association with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific; Thailand's World Health Organization representatives; the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and the Foundation Confederation club of Walk-Run for Thai Health are organizing a mini half marathon to mark United Nations’ Day on October 31. The purpose of the event is to recognize the many important missions that the UN has undertaken for many years; to focus on world peace and to encourage people to exercise to stay healthy and build up their immune systems to help fight off the flu.
The event, to be chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, will be divided into different categories including the 10.5 km marathon; the three km walk and the 10.5 km cycling event. There will also be aerobics, healthy exercise demonstrations in various forms and tips on avoiding the flu.
All Participants will receive UN souvenirs and a T-shirt.
