Thailand women’s volleyball, the Asian latest Champion - Thailand women’s - Volleyball

The first ever victory at the Asian Championship for Thailand’s women volleyball team was a new page of Thai Volleyball Association history. Recently, the volleyball team has arrived Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi airport and was warmly welcomed by thousands of fans and journalists.

The team management reveled that reaching the final round of the Asian woman’s volleyball championships in Vietnam over the weekend was a huge and unexpected accomplishment for the Thai team.  Moreover, the victory for China seemed to be obviously certain when the Chinese team has won the first set 25-20. Remarkably, however, that was the last set they would win, as the Thai women stormed back to upset the bronze medalist at last year’s Olympics. The scores were 25-19, 25-19 and, in a nail-biting closing set, 25-23. It was Thailand’s first-ever victory over China.

Thai coach Kriatipong Ratchatakriangkai, after the match, has admitted that to defeat China, 11-time Asian champions, was a way beyond expectations.
