Thai Premier League 2009 Latest Updates - Annop Singhtothong - FA CUP - AFC CUP - Champions - Premier League - Chonburi - FC - Muangthong Unicorns

Chonburi Sharks or Muangthong Unicorns to be Thai Premier League 2009 Champions

The Thai Premier League has completed 24 matches with another 6 matches to go. The championship is becoming clearer with the winner going to be either between Chonburi FC or Muang Thong United as Bangkok Glass, BEC TERO, OSOTSPA M 150, and Thai Port FC have already been defeated and ousted from the Championship round. The Thai Premier League’s newcomer Muangthong United is currently the leading team, holding 51 points, only one point ahead of Chonburi FC. One of these two clubs will be the Thai Premier League 2009 champion.

Chonburi FC Manager, Annop Singhtothong, admitted that Muangthong United are the favorites to take out the championship. This was because Chonburi FC in this season has had to participate in 3 major programs including the FA CUP, the AFC CUP and Thai Premier League, while the Muangthong has participated in Thai Premier League only.

Because of the full schedule to complete Chonburi players would  be disadvantaged and it would be difficult  to beat Muangthong. Also Chonburi lost to Muangthong 2-5 the last time they met.

He continued to state, “Even though we are in tough situation we’ll do our best to beat Muangthong and try not to concede any goals to Muangthong, because the Head-to-Head rule will be used when both teams have come up with a tied score. Anything could happen in these games.”

Muangthong FC Manager, Ronarit Suevaja, said he believes in his coach, Atthapol Busapakhom, and players to succeed in the upcoming game against Chonburi FC on October 4. He repeated that all of his players are have high potential.

“We have a goal to win 3 Thailand major cups within 3 years after we have completed the Division 1 championship and also the champion of Division 2, and the third one is this year’s Thai Premier League championship,” added Suevaja.
