Pattaya City in association with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Sawang Boriboon Foundation and many different government and private organizations prepared to organize the Pattaya Vegetarian Festival 2009, aimed at promoting ancient culture and Pattaya tourism. The festival is scheduled from October 7 -27 at the Sawang Boriboon Foundation. The highlight is to cook vegetarian fired rice to serve 4,999 people. The entire area will be decorated with many Chinese lamps.



Mr. Prasit Thongtitcharoen, Chief of Sawang Boriboon Foundation, revealed that the organizing theme this year is to fill up the people’s minds and eyes with ritual happiness.

 

Mr. Sinchai Wattanasatsathorn, Assistant Chief of Sawang Boriboon, revealed that the ceremony will start at South Pattaya’s Bali Hai Pier on October 17 at 12:29 pm., Paraders will start marching from the Bali Hai Pier to Walking Street and stop at the police box in front of Walking Street before being divided into two sections. The first group of the parade will be moving along Pattaya Beach Road and will turn right to Central Pattaya Road to meet the second group, which will be marching from the South Pattaya intersection along the Pattaya

2nd Road. In addition, the second group will stop to perform the Chinese Dragon Dance in front of Mike Shopping Mall. They will then proceed to meet the other group at the Central Pattaya intersection. Both groups will then continue from this intersection along Central Pattaya Road and finish at the TOT Building.

 

The official press announcement is scheduled to be conducted again on October 9, at the Alcazar Theater, 2:00 pm.
