Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Wattana Chantanawaranon has recently held discussions regarding developing the Naklua area as a sustainable tourism attraction in the future. Government officials, representatives from the Naklua community and relevant parties participated in the discussions.

Mr. Wattana revealed that Naklua is one of Pattaya’s oldest areas, containing seven villages including Koh Larn. In the past, it was a well-known community, but has been overlooked by tourists and even the local business operators and residents in recent times. It finally became an abandoned community because most residents have migrated to work in other areas and left their houses locked.

He continued to reveal that Pattaya Policy focuses on improving business opportunities to every area and resident. Therefore, Pattaya management deemed that Naklua’s traditional features and atmosphere deserve to be preserved and developed as a new attraction for tourists in order to create jobs, businesses and income for residents under the sustainable development theory.

Primarily, the management has proposed during the discussion to set the Naklua Fresh Market along both sides of the road as a location for locals to trade or sell their own products on Saturday and Sunday evenings. This would necessitate the road being closed during those evenings Management has agreed to arrange both sides of the Larn Phoe Naklua Market to have sales booths that are 2.5 meters wide for locals or other interested parties to sell their products.
