‘Samsung Candy’ will sweeten its way to 35% of Bangkok’s market share - Candy S3650 - Samsung


The Korean electronics giant, Samsung, is confident that their new teen friendly mobile phone, The Samsung Candy S3650, known as Samsung Corby in other countries, will be a hit with teenagers in Thailand and boost their market share by five percent, outselling its rival, Nokia.



Samsung currently holds a 30% Bangkok market share, compared with 28.7% for Nokia, according to research by Gjk Research Institution.

 

Khun Manatase Annawat, Senior Manager of Thai Samsung Electronics Company is certain the company will remain ahead of Nokia due to strong sales of their touch screen phones, especially the new affordable and practical Candy model. He said that they’re anticipating sales of 2.5 million phones, generating seven to eight billion baht in sales, representing an increase of 30% in revenue and 40% growth in volume.

 

Sales of the touch screen phone in Thailand have risen by an astounding 400-500% this year and will continue to rise in the years to come.

 

The mouth watering, candy colored phone is sold for only 5990 baht and is equipped with a two mega pixel camera and ever so popular social networking services, such as Face book.

 

Khun Annawat continued, “We are expecting to sell at least 400,000 to 500,000 Samsung Candies in

Thailand within a year, which will top ten million in global sales.”

 

Samsung plans to release an affordable mobile TV phone by year’s end in order to satisfy the 12% demand for this type of phone and is expanding the touch phone category to please all levels of customers.
