Carp lovers from Thailand and Japan entered their carp in the first ever Pattaya Carp Contest recently held at Pattaya’s Underwater World. The contest was meant to help boost Pattaya tourism and was chaired by Chonburi Provincial Administration Chairman, Vittaya Kunplome. The carp is a freshwater fish with a single fin on its back and includes goldfish among others.

This was Pattaya’s first national standard carp competition. The contest was divided into ten categories including Kohaku, Sowa-Syunsoku, Shiro-Bekyo, Koromo, Hiraki, Moyomono, Kawarimono, Kinkirin, Tanjo and the well-known carp breed, Taiso Sanshoku.

The proud winners received trophies from former Minister of Tourism and Sport, Sonthaya Kunplome; and director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Veersak Kohsurat.
