Why Pattaya??? BEING "GAY" IN PATTAYA!

The "Pattaya Gay Community" is a group of people who enjoy having a good time. We understand the meaning of the title ‘gay’, which was attributed to us many years ago. We found in Pattaya a selection of entertainment venues that offer many choices. Entertainment was the key word that brought us to the shores of this, "City by the Sea.”

We are a unique group, who talk together, shop together, dine together, and when night times come, we party together. A common topic of discussion among resident Farangs is ‘BAR TALK.’ We know the names and the locations of most of the bars, and we know the owners and the mama sans. We are acquainted with the doormen, and can recognize many of the dancers by names rather than by numbers. We know which bars offer what shows and at what times. At any of the "Special Events," the Pattaya

Farangs will be there occupying the front row seats. We will be ‘tossing our roses’ on stage to vote for "The Most Handsome; The Most Popular; or ‘The Best All Around," go-go performers. Fifty baht, for a rose, is a small price to pay for the happiness the go-go bars contribute to our lives.

The Pattaya Gay Community is also a collective group of doctors, lawyers, educators, professional men and women, who chose not to accept the "status quo," but went in search of a better way of life. We are a diverse, multi-talented group of artists, designers, actors and composers who have, within us, the spirit of adventure. We were unhappy with situations back home, so we began looking for a place where we could live happy and productive lives. We have come here from all over the world because we found, in Pattaya, an "Acceptance Policy," whereby gays and lesbians can live with pride, dignity,= and without fear. We desire to have an active role in community affairs and wish for nothing less than the freedom to be ourselves. We are hard working, service-oriented people, who will serve the community well.

We are not a militant group and we did not come to Pattaya to try force change. We prefer to live peaceful lives in harmony with the Pattaya Thais. We wish to do no harm to anyone, and do not wish to be harmed, even though dictators have killed thousands of us; governments have punished millions of us; societies have shunned most of us, and religions have denied all of us. Yet, we are still here! We are law-abiding residents of Pattaya, and we deplore any behavior outside the "limitations of the law."

We do not wish to be judged by the actions of "one bad apple," and we are determined not to allow that "one bad apple,” to spoil the barrel. We believe that there are more than enough ways to enjoy life in Pattaya, within the framework of the law. We are not ashamed that we are a happy people, and that we enjoy life, where age is not a determining factor. If the "WONDER GIRLS," can sing it, the Pattaya Gays, can swing it. When one of us looks upon that stage and says, “I want Nobody—Nobody but you,” you can be assured that we mean it; but you can also be assured that we will have a "responsible" good time. Along with our happiness, we are adults, and we accept the responsibility for our actions. The policy of "throw caution to the wind," has long been eliminated from the gay lifestyle. The majority of the Pattaya Farangs are highly respectable people, who want to make sure that because we were here, Pattaya is a better place.
